Review of Sister Act (1992) by Rebecca H — 12 May 2009
An incredibly famous film from my childhood, that as a child I never watched, because I failed to understand what could possibly be funny about a woman pretending to be a nun. If it wasn't drag, then I wasn't interested.
I have now finally seen it. I am now old enough to understand that not all women act like nuns, and having to do so can be very funny. Sure, this is schmaltzy and the plot is pretty basic, but as feelgood comedies go, it works.
And if you're a fan of sixties pop, which I am, there's a lot of good music to enjoy. This is no classic, but it is a nice film to enjoy.
