Review of Sister Act (1992) by Benjamin F — 01 May 2012
Whoopi Goldberg plays Deloris, a lounge singer who accidentally witnesses a murder committed by her boyfriend (Harvey Keitel). Witness protection places her in a nunnery and Deloris struggles with pretending to be "'Sister Mary Clarence".
However, she ultimately finds her calling when she takes over the choir and draws crowds with her soul-infused program. Sister Act was a surprise hit for Whoopi and it was eventually adapted into a successful Broadway musical.
This movie isn't really my thing, but it was well made and I laughed at several of the jokes.
