Review of Sinister (2012) by Dan-Kristy W — 20 Jul 2013
Though not as flat out scary as other movies such as "Insidious", "Sinister" is perhaps one of the most disturbing and creepy horror movies I've ever seen. Ethan Hawke's main character may be an idiot, but he's fun to watch, and you're interested in what's going on right along with him.
The other characters are likable too, and the cinematography is fantastic. The best element of the movie is by far the murder videos, each titled something innocent like 'Pool Party'. They are shot on old film (which visibly differs from the rest of the movie) and are CREEPY as hell.
The ending, while having gotten some flak from people who didn't like it, I thought was pretty decent myself and added another level of creepiness to everything else that happened. All in all, while certainly not perfect or a classic horror movie, this one is definitely recommended.
