Review of Sinister (2012) by Eric L — 21 Aug 2013
After reading some blurbs about how supposedly "terrifying" this movie is, I decided to check it out for myself, so I got out of bed and went to my theatre.
Not exactly "terrifying" by any means, but I will give credit for the great use of atmosphere throughout the film, along with a passable story and mythos to go along with it. I couldn't help but realize, though, how stupid some of these characters were throughout it and its reliance (at times) on jump scares and how it was pretty predictable, which were this otherwise above-average flick's gaping flaws.
But still, compared to some of the crap horror and that (from what I hear awful) PA film coming out this Friday, it's golden.
By the way, Song at the end credits is "Gyroscope" by Boards of Canada.
