Review of Sinister (2012) by Jeffrey A — 13 Oct 2014
Fantastic. A true crime writer movies himself and his family into the house of a recent strange family killing in an attempt to solve the mystery of their death. He finds a box of old 8mm snuff films, showing the murders, plus many others. Supernatural horror begins to shake his resolve, and the nightmares begin.
Ethan Hawke is quite good as the Stephen King-esque writer, coming apart at the hinges trying to solve this mystery. The obsession begins to tear his family apart, but decides for the victims he must solve this mystery.
The acting is quite good for all of the characters, and the mystery is really quite good.
Beware of Mr. Boogie.
