The first Sinister was one of those movies that you can't really do twice successfully. So I do like the fact that they don't really try that, instead they visit the twist of the first film and tell the story from the kid's point of view.
However, that doesn't make this a particularly great horror film, and most of it will just make fans want to watch the first one instead.
