Review of Singles (1992) by James S — 10 Feb 2008
There is nothing to dislike about Singles, the film literally has it all. It's funny, it's heart warming, it's genuine and you feel like you've known these people your whole life.
Add to that the fact that it has the greatest soundtrack of all time (Pearl Jam, Smashing Pumpkins, Mother Love Bone, Alice In Chains) and what you get is one of the smallest but nicest films of all time.
Matt Dillon steals the show is what is essentially a supporting role as wannabe rock star Cliff, his every line delivered with a slacker cool that so personified the early 90s Seattle scene.
And it was the inspiration for Friends!! The world would be a worse place without this movie.
