Review of Singin' in the Rain (1952) by Amanda C — 20 May 2011
Singin' in the Rain is one of those films where everything just comes together and works. It's joyful and a ridiculous amount of fun, boasting some of the most fantastically entertaining dance numbers in all of cinema from Make 'Em Laugh to the title number Singin' in the Rain.
It's a gentle satire on fame and Hollywood, but it loves Tinseltown and all associated with it. Singin' in the Rain is the very essence of what a musical should be: a film that you can't help but enjoy.
