Review of Singin' in the Rain (1952) by Alex G — 16 Sep 2012
It was rather difficult to not like this movie. Gene Kelly's great, the guy who played Cosmo Brown is one of the best supporting actors I've seen (he made that bland number "Make 'em Laugh" worth watching with his exuberant choreography), and Debbie Reynolds and Jean Hagen are great too.
It's charming, funny, classy and just a lot of fun to watch. The choreography was great and helped make some of the numbers stand out. "Singin in the Rain" and "Moses Supposes" are great on their own, and were my personal favorites.
The only criticisms I really had was I wish I got to see more of the chemistry between Gene Kelly's and Debbie Reynold's characters, and the musical number that Gene Kelly had in his mind at the end dragged on for a little too long, but it was overall a greatly executed number.
Easily has creeped in to my favorite classic movie musical.
