Review of Singin' in the Rain (1952) by Daniel P — 04 Jul 2015
I can't say a bad word about this classic - in addition to making me smile the whole way through, it's a film about the film industry. Donald O'Connor nearly steals the show with his zany supporting role, and Gene Kelly is magical in the lead, walking that line between musical corny and believably sincere.
The songs endure, and - perhaps the film's biggest surprise - the visuals are varied, and gigantic, and stunning. One for the ages, jam-packed with love and life and laughter. It's beautifully done.
