Review of Singin' in the Rain (1952) by Sergio R — 16 Jan 2013
With bravura performances from Gene Kelly and Debbie Reynolds, and Donald O'Connor creating one of the most charming characters of all time, Singin' in the Rain is a stunningly choreographed, beautiful musical film that not just is the best musical ever, is one of the best and finest films ever.
Mostly ignored at the time of its release, mostly because was too advanced for 50's audiences (may be, I don't know), this is a bravely smart, narratively complex film, with happiness all around and showing the talents of actors that now is very hard to find, simply Singin' in the Rain is the happiest film ever, with no bad thing to say.
(i used the term "ever" purposely to remark how brilliant it is).
