The second part abandons the nice straightforward style of the original and turns more like the good versus bad guy tale of the eighties. Here, the bad folks have many victories while the good guys prevail only in the end.
The prolonged suffering inflicted on the baddies is what made the first movie a pleasant experience. Not here.
