Review of Sing Street (2016) by Ryan D — 14 Apr 2016
Between Once, Begin Again and now Sing Street, John Carney has established himself as one of the prime filmmakers out there at depicting and deploying music. His latest has another killer soundtrack and musical backdrop, making effective use of its 80s Ireland backdrop this time out.
The narrative does take a few leaps, and there's a couple parts that are maybe a bit too broad, but overall it's very easy to root for and get caught up in, making it Carney's second best behind Once.
