Review of Sing Street (2016) by Carlos M — 26 May 2016
So if you ever wonder what type of movie is my FAVORITE type, here is a perfect example! LOVED this! So glad I caught it before it stopped showing in theaters. This is now my favorite movie of the year, so far and my first 5 rating of the year as well.
Perfect. I loved it. Set in the 80's so the soundtrack was of course great. The fact there are also GREAT original songs in it as well blows my mind. I love that the writer/director had a part in the original song writing as well.
I will say again.. One of my favorite parts of movies is the music that is used in them. There is nothing to me more beautiful than the relationship between movie & music, this was a perfect example.
I haven't seen the other films by this writer/director, John Carney, YET. But I will soon. I do own Begin Again and need to watch it ASAP ha ha. I thought the story was great, a lot more emotional than I thought it would be.
I will admit the story doesn't flow perfectly, got a little slow sometimes but it wasn't enough to prevent a perfect rating for me. I actually sat there heartbroken it ended cause I didn't want it to.
I could have watched another hour of this beautiful film. The actors, wow. Could not have cast a more perfect group. The main guy, Cosmo and band mate Eamon, their chemistry was great and to me felt like I was watching a Irish teen Paul McCartney and John Lennon & I was in heaven.
Fun, clever, original & made me feel so good after. A must own for me. Can't wait to watch again!!
