SING STREET-2016(PG-13)-June 11.
By:Clem, The Movie Guy.
Inspired by John Carney's life & his love of music, Sing Street is a thoroughly charming coming-of-age enlivened by the passion of first love & rock & roll. Set in 1985, Dublin, Conor Lalo (Feria Walsh Peelo,) an aspiring musician is dealing with his soon-to-be-separated parents' constant fighting & his abrupt transfer to a rough new school, Synge Street CBS where he is being harassed by the school bully & abused by the heavy handed principal Brother Baxter. In the midst of these conflicts, Â Conor meets Raphina, (Lucy Boynton) a young aspiring model. Attempting to impress her, Conner invents a fictitious band & asks her to perform in a music video. Now Conor just needs to recruit band members & write the songs that will win her heart. With the guidance of his older brother, Brendan (Jack Reynor,) Conor discovers that making music will make him strong enough to realize his dreams. Just as in his previous films, Once & Begin Again, writer, director, John Carney has masterfully crafted a truly charming story; warm, very human & full of wonderful music. You are probably going to want to own the soundtrack! The performances from the cast were perfect & the chemistry between Conor & Raphina was radiant. Look for Sing Street to be on my list of best films for 2016. Sing Street is a CAN'T MISS FILM!
