Review of Sing Street (2016) by James P — 14 Nov 2016
Had no idea I would be so blown away by this incredibly charming and moving little film.
I was even more surprised when I found that not only had the director led the film but also wrote a majority of the original music played by the teen band in it.
It has a perfect exaggerated feel to it, but not so much that the audience doesn't buy into it.
Looking at it critically, these kids who had never touched an instrument or sang could never have gotten as good as they did by the end of the film in the short time that had been shown to have passed.
But when you're watching, the charm keeps you believing in them anyway.
