Review of Sing Street (2016) by Danburrito — 01 Sep 2016
Though it isn't the most original film in the world, "Sing Street" is an energetic, upbeat and surprisingly touching musical with irresistible charm and great songs. The performances are excellent, with an Oscar-worthy turn from Jack Reynor and great work from its younger stars.
The music is toe-tapping and catchy, and the movie blends feel-good optimism with heartfelt drama wonderfully. It also manages to recreate the feel of 1980's Dublin perfectly, and should leave a smile on your face by the time the credits roll.
Overall, Sing Street is another success for John Carney and one of the best movies of 2016.
