Review of Sing Street (2016) by That Awkward G — 26 Jan 2017
I loved this film. It was a great coming of age story. Everything from the character dynamics, the drama, the great performances makes it all that more real and powerful. I'm not a huge cryer, but there were moments of Sing Street where I almost teared up! The movie also does a very good job of establishing what Conor's issues are and how that influences him and his siblings.
His brother Branden was a great mentor to him, and was performed marvelously by Jack Reynor. The music was also great, and really captivated the current time period the film takes place. Sing Street is one of the most influential movies I have seen in a very long time, and it gave me even a greater appreciation for music and the art of film.
And it is definitely towards the top of my favorites of the year! If you haven't seen this film yet, it is currently on streaming and Netflix, it is definitely worth watching!
