Review of Sing Street (2016) by Isaac S — 25 Jul 2016
Starting this film at 12 AM only because I had heard so many great things and was slightly interested, never did I think that I would be crying tears of joy as the credits rolled by. John Carney and his team are masterminds when it comes to capturing the human spirit through music, but in my mind, Sing Street triumphs over both of his previous projects.
What is clear in this film is Carney's own connection to the youthful Irish 80's impersonators that have been created in the story. I was blown away by the music and impressed by the performances.
But most importantly, Carney was able to create a film with a strong and endearing message, one that tells you to follow your dreams, never give up on love and just "do". That's what pushes this particular film to new heights.
The best movie of 2016 so far and will likely remain one of the strongest throughout the year, I recommend this to anyone who loves music, being happy or just plain love itself!
