Although the characters were enjoyable and cute, the plot lacked any real foundation. There were too many struggles for the characters to overcome properly and within an appropriate time-frame, and as a result, made the movie rushed by too fast.
Each character had a specific personal problem they were dealing with, which they resolved much too quickly. Because of this, none of the problems seemed real enough to get the audience interested or invested.
