Review of Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas (2003) by Stephen N — 15 May 2009
For the longest time I've wanted to see this one. When it first came out I wasn't aloud to watch movies with sorcery or witchcraft, so it slipped into the *I'll see it someday* folder that you really don't think about after you put it there.
Then suddenly it comes across your path again and that little ol' movie you forgot about becomes the thing your glued to for an hour and a half. This movie was an animated 'Pirates of the Carrabean', or should I say 'Pirates' was a Disney Sinbad? Eh, who cares!! This movie reminded me of the special place in my heart for animated films.
The magic and spectacular visual effects that sweep you away to a world where anything is possible. A swash-buckling story that follows such a simple story pattern, but the simplicity of it is what makes it so enjoyable.
Characters that actually do the right thing in the end. Moral dilemas that really define who these characters are. It was a good thing I didn't know who the voice-talents were, though, or then I may not have liked it as much.
Good movie to go back and remember the quality we used to have in kids movies.
