Review of Sin City: A Dame to Kill For (2014) by Thearchetypes — 08 Sep 2016
This 2nd film adaptation of Frank Miller’s graphic novels is all about the style. The stories are set in an ultra film noir world of tough guys and hot femmes. It's mostly black and white with pops of colour (usually for the women).
Three basic stories play out: doomed love, hateful pride and bitter revenge. The stylised violence and illustrative visuals make for dramatic images. Even though it goes on a bit too long, director Robert Rodriguez has created a rich, moody place.
