Review of Sin City: A Dame to Kill For (2014) by Scubasteve Walter M — 28 Sep 2014
A Dame to Kill For is as aesthetically lavish as its predecessor, though bogged down by tedious and boorish dialogue. All the antics aren't entirely insufferable though, Miller and Rodriguez do well when orchestrating spectacle and action, with as much visual splendor as they can muster.
Moreover, each shot is well choreographed and fearlessly clings to its source material. Therein lies the problem, whilst the first film in the franchise was a successful adaptation, the novel is more suitable for prolonged periods of narration and soliloquy compared to mass cinema.
