Review of Sin City: A Dame to Kill For (2014) by Harrison S — 10 Dec 2014
It's been a long time between drinks, but B-grade schlock maestro Robert Rodriguez finally returns to Frank Miller's seedy Sin City chronicles in this long awaited sequel to his breakout adaptation.
While it's certainly arguable whether this sequel was warranted, Rodriguez has ultimately made a film for Sin City fans. With the majority of the cast returning, Rodriguez falls right back into stylistic form like he never left, breathing life back into the trashy underbelly of Basin City inhabitants for another interconnected swath of stories with ease. He directs it all with his trademark vibe of frenetic energy, along with the iconic monochrome and splashes of technicolour that punctuated his debut.
This second helping has lost some of the freshness the original had, but it's still at the very least a worthy return to this visually exciting world.
