Review of Sin City: A Dame to Kill For (2014) by Adrian B — 22 Feb 2015
Very artistic but without the depth of the first installment. (wich I just had to re-watch last week).
This second installment I watched the extras and got the gist of direction reverting to the base product story without a lot of the plot complexity from Frank Miller. (i haven't read or seen his work) Joseph Gorden-Levitt said it well when asked about the film. He couldn't stray from the fact it was to live the unreality, and of just going to the movies again, to see all the over the top the green screen can produce to bring an already written story but like the story, like the comic or as close as, bringing forth it all to your senses not the streets outside your home.
It has all the dark worldish, I'm sure director was aiming to recreate from Franks work (with his directive assistance) but not the real raw violent black comedy humor, especially Micky Rourke's Marv had in the original for mine. I don't think they'll ever get 'that' again, and hope it doesn't spoil. a good enough feature anyway but barley cracking the top scale so moderately [B grade] really, really good.
