The original Sin City burst onto the scene some 10 years ago, and delighted viewers with both its style and selection of engrossing, gritty story-lines. 'A Dame to Kill For' is set soon after the original, and picks up on a number of our favourite characters from the original.

Similarly to the original, a number of different story arcs are presented, each with a common element. Whilst the style and unique black and white imagery remains, it is the storyline(s) itself that disappoints.

Despite enjoying Levitt's performance, his adventure is all too predictable, and very much feels like a side dish to the main event. I don't know whether or not this was the intention, although it didn't offer too much in the overall scheme of things.

I did like Dwight's story arc, although would have liked to have seen his character developed slightly further. Whilst the graphics remain slick, the action itself disappointed. Fight scenes were not as inventive as the original, and also seemed rushed in places.

A considerably short running time perhaps summarises this, and perhaps suggests the writers were struggling to fill the time. Despite the negatives, it did remain a fun movie to watch, namely due to the unique visuals that you won't find anywhere else.
