Review of Sin City: A Dame to Kill For (2014) by Daniel T — 27 Jun 2016
The first film had its flaws, but Rodriguez and Miller both got the look and idea of what this film is on the screen perfectly. Because of this, audiences and viewers were and are able to look past those flaws.
Rodriguez and Miller failed to recreate this in their sequel. Not that they should recreate a movie with flaws. It's just that they did not improve on what they should have improved on for the sequel to make it better than the first.
What we have is a film that is made up of the flaws that were in the first film and then some. Bad casting, poor dialogue, pointless story made up of all subplots (no plot), and violence that is purposeless.
In my opinion, Rodriguez and Miller both should have backed away from this anticipated sequel. After all, they had plenty of time to do so with it being so many years since the original aired.
