Review of Sin City (2005) by Andrew B — 23 Sep 2014
The best directed movie I have ever seen. Every single shot is beautifully done, and is never boring to look at. Despite the fact that movies with a different visual style from the norm are usually just for the sake of eyecandy, Sin City instead uses the visual style and every shot as another way of telling the story along with the dialogue; the visual style represents the beautiful, yet grotesque city of Basin City, and has some of the most memorable characters in all of cinema.
The characters are likable, yet flawed, and every line from them is golden. Despite their flaws, each of them have a moral code that they stick to, and provides a guide to living your life like a man; Marv is the most entertaining character in this film.
Any flaws in this masterpiece, if even existent, are so miniscule they are not worth talking about.
