Review of Sin City (2005) by Magnus G — 19 Dec 2014
Robert Rodriguez and original comic book writer Frank Miller bring Sin City to the big screen in spectacular fashion. Using rotoscope to integrate the gorgeous comic book visuals with the actors and their surroundings, they create a striking adaptation with each actor really suiting their roles.
Bruce Willis and Mickey Rourke in particular really fit in with this world. The individual stories really engage you and connect brilliantly together with each character being fully realised. It's definitely stylised with its neo-noir approach to its characters, storytelling and visual look so don't expect the film to be down to earth but its camp execution is what makes it so appealing.
As comic book films go, this is one of the best in my opinion and certainly the best Frank Miller adaptation out there. Sin City is beautiful, tragic, funny and all around a tonne of fun to watch.
