Review of Simon Birch (1998) by Troy F — 28 Jul 2012
Simon Birch can be awfully touching, but at the same time a bit depressing when you look at it from another perspective. You get some heartful moments with Simon, and some awkward and even blasphemous moments that make him such a bastardized child.
It's like were expected to believe in Simon Birch and love his character, and in a way we do, but in a way I'm a bit turned off. It's a nice story in the end and the film "for the most part" does have some wonderful moments making for a GOOD film, but gets too touchy touchy on us as the audience.
