Review of Silver Streak (1976) by Mike G — 09 May 2011
Sort of torture to watch these days, it's very thin and unintentionally awkward, dated, and not consistently funny. You can't even call it a true teaming of Richard Pryor and Gene Wilder like in the much funnier Stir Crazy, the only one of their buddy films that's worth a shit.
In fact it's galling that Pryor isn't even in the first hour and is treated like a bit player. Of course there's no upstaging Patrick McGoohan who made an excellent anything, but the rest of the cast isn't much.
It's clucky and clunky and Gene Wilder just meanders from one minor piss off to the next, sometimes amusing, but often yawnful.
