Review of Silver Linings Playbook (2012) by Jnely — 20 Nov 2012
This movie is a mixed bag. I enjoyed everything except the main plot, which was very a typical romcom. A Boy has a problem, a girl has problem, then the boy and girl overcome that problem through mutual respect and handwork.
That being said, the additional subplots and story elements are a welcome change to that typical formula. For example, the psychologist is hilarious, and the peculiarities of each character are executed well (except Cooper's mother, who is pretty stale).
DeNiro and Cooper's performance are excellent, and show real promise in future movies for the later.
