I thought this movie was pretty good and the acting was definitely top-notch. However, some themes were either carefully elaborated and others were barely touched upon and never clearly explained and/or elaborated. An example is Pat's brother who isn't introduced until more than half way through the movie and he comes across as being so rude to him. "I have a job, you lost your job. I have a house you lost your house." Then, at that bet game he stands up for him when the brother at that bet game. It's just I don't know I thought they did a great job with the father son scenes, they could have done it with the brother too. It'd make it more of a family unit story on a man's quest to feel better about his illness and himself within the family dynamic.

I felt that the bet scene was forced and needed to be re-written a little bit more. I mean Robert De Niro's character discusses how it's Tiffany (Jennifer Lawrence) fault for him losing money on a game because of that fight (which Bradley Cooper's character Pat) didn't even clearly explain what happened. His father just kept yelling and everyone just said calm down...then the bet issue came up. I don't know they could have expressed it differently that way Pat could have stood up more for himself and to his family and Tiffany. But, then again there would not be a cliche happy ending as their is most contemporary Hollywood movies.

Oh, also I thought there was gonna be more of a relationship with the therapist similar to 'Good Will Hunting.' It's just it was a pretty good movie that could have been more detailed because it's acting was solid.
