Review of Silver Linings Playbook (2012) by Chris F — 20 Sep 2014
Whoa... I didn't understand why this movie was so favored at the academy awards and to take it even a step further I didn't even know what this film was about. Well now I do. It's about the realities and tragedies that people face in life.
It's about picking up the pieces when things fall apart. It's also about love, family and the baggage that comes along with the tandem. This film was beautifully written and portrayed by an amazing cast that would not have had the same result without this line up.
Absolutely perfect chemistry. Bradley Cooper convincingly plays a troubled man who experiences a catastrophic breakdown after an emotionally scarring incident. Robert DeNiro delivers a heartfelt performance as a flawed man trying to mend a broken son.
Jennifer Lawrence was a revelation in a performance that earned a well deserved Oscar as a grieving widow that you feel sympathetic for one second and then genuinely frightened of the next. I could go on for a while about this film, but I digress.
Unconventional to say the least, but an astounding end result.
