Review of Silver Linings Playbook (2012) by Tyler R — 26 Jan 2014
I wasn't a fan of American Hustle. Yeah, I said it. I know I'm like one of two people who feel that way, but it's true. So, obviously there was some hesitation with watching this. Well, I'm happy to say I walked away more than pleased.
Silver Linings Playbook follows a man who was recently released from a psychiatric hospital, as he tries to reconnect with his family in the hopes of reconnecting with his ex-wife. This was a great film, and props go to everyone involved, especially the actors.
Bradley Cooper does a fantastic job, and it's great to see him develop as an actor and break away from the bad comedies he was thrown into. Jennifer Lawrence also does a great job, as does the rest of the cast.
It's a smooth film that balances comedy and dram while walking that fine line that's required to do so. Overall, the film didn't disappoint, and that's great because I was hoping it'd be as good as it looked.
