Review of Silver Linings Playbook (2012) by Johnnylee T — 19 Apr 2016
This just didn't grab me at all, not sure why this is touted as a 'comedy'. It's not, it's a drama with some funny moments, mainly at the beginning. The cast is strong, it's an original story etc. I was just a bit bored by it.
Also annoyed by the fact that apparently Tiffany in the book was in her thirties but they cast barely-out-of-highschool Jennifer Lawrence instead! Really over this Hollywood crap that only 20 year old actresses are worth casting - in any role, no matter how old the male lead is! Ridiculous! Jennifer Lawrence is great but surely they could have found a more age-appropriate actress to play the role? I was thinking throughout the film that Jennifer Lawrence is probably a bit young to be playing this particular role and sure enough, I was right. Bradley Cooper even says at one point 'How old are you?!' Exactly Bradley, exactly. Makes me want to stop watching mainstream movies.
