Review of Silver Linings Playbook (2012) by Petros T — 13 Aug 2018
It failed to engage me on either an emotional or a cerebral level, the climax at the dance competition being the only scene that managed to grab my interest. We get emerged in tension and drama from the get-go but are never really given the time to feel we actually know the characters, let alone care about them.
The acting ranges from decent to shit, while De Niro has an unbelievably empty role to portray. Repetition is the name of the game in a film that feels like a train-wreck in slow motion.
