Review of Silent Running (1972) by Chris A — 16 Oct 2007
A sad, poignant tale with the usual space opera feel of 70's science fiction. It looks great, but then it is directed by effects maestro Trumball -responsible for many of the most mind blowing sequences of 2001 and Close encounters.
Dern is always watchable, but here his robot sidekicks steal the show. It's a movie that's had significant influence on modern sci-fi - and it's themes are still relevant today.
