Review of Silent Running (1972) by Matt R — 26 Sep 2008
Good God this was terrible. The long and drawn-out scenes of him interacting with the robots, the overdone acting, the atrocious dialogue, the crooning and low-quality hippy music, the preachy environmentalism (you know it's bad when you start to empathize even a little with the "villains," who are flat-out jerks).
..I wanted to fall asleep. He saved the world's last arbor, and that's great, but the movie should have ended after the first half hour. The premise was interesting; the execution makes me think that this movie was an act of malice against mankind.
..an attempt to kill them all through boredom.
