Review of Silent Rage (1982) by Dave C — 18 Jul 2008
Fact 1 - When the Boogeyman goes to sleep every night he checks his closet for Chuck Norris.
"Martial arts master versus super-human killing machine", ok so you'd be forgiven for thinking that this was going to be a Chuck Norris vs. Chuck Norris action film. What we have instead is a film that has been 'inspired' by Halloween, with a bit of martial arts thrown in. John Kirby walks up one morning and snaps and kills two people, and is then shot several times. Thankfully they're able to rush him to a nearby hospital, that just happens to be mainly a genetic research centre. After being pumped full of an experimental syrum he becomes an unstoppable killing machine. The film then switches fully into Halloween mode and we have the silent killer stalking and killing people in a nice set of overalls too. There is a scene set in a house in which we have a killer's POV in the same way as Halloween as goes around the house stalking his victim, followed by the leading ladies very similar discovery of the bodies later to Jamie Lee Curtis. Stephen Furst provides the comedy as the new deputy, even getting to put in a Travis Bickle impression.
