Review of Silent Night, Deadly Night Part 2 (1987) by Archibald T — 30 Nov 2012
Okay. Let's Begin.
So, in the first Silent Night Deadly Night, Billy Chapman went on a Christmas rampage. He spouted out the word 'Naughty!' whenever he would kill somebody that was. Now Billy had a brother, Ricky, who wasn't the center of attention in the first film. So, guess what? He is in the second film. Ricky is given full screen time as he goes on and on and on as to why and how he ended up in jail.
Eric Freeman who plays Ricky does a swell job at being a very pissy little over actor. If his acting wasn't so funny the film would've been an unwatchable piece of crap. Well, it is crap. What am I saying! Ricky is stuck with a psychiatrist who is trying to figure out why Ricky did the things he did. This film gives new meaning to the term 'Let's start from the beginning' and actually starts FROM THE BEGINNING! For 40 minutes straight, we're presented with a sort of clip show of what happened in the first film. Almost every single scene from the first film is edited into that first 40 minute time frame before Ricky begins HIS story! Best thing to do, unless you want to view the first film again, would be to fast forward to the 40 minute mark and begin there.
Ricky was eventually adopted by a nice family. It was until his adopted father's death when he began going on his own little rampage. That's it. Unlike the first film which was a bit more sinister, this one seems to be unintentionally hilarious. One scene has literally given Eric Freeman cult status in the internet community when he yells out the words 'Garbage Day!' before shooting an innocent bystander who was just taking out his garbage. There isn't anything redeemable about this film unless you want to see Elizabeth Kaitan naked (which is the only highlight I found to be enjoyable).
