Review of Silent Night, Deadly Night (1984) by Erik O — 10 Jun 2008
I love Slasher Flicks with every fiber of my being, but this one just felt like it was trying too hard... almost like it was competing against "Friday the 13th," or something. But the "Friday the 13th" films, for as much as I hate to love them, have a certain fun charm to them that this film lacks.
This film could've been worse, and it's definitely not the worst Slasher I've seen; but, that being said, it's probably the least fun I've ever had while watching a Slasher Flick. It was basically one big Slasher cliche after another.
.. I liked the Christmas aspect, and the "maniac Santa" element... but if it's a creepy Christmas movie you're after, then just go with the original "Black Christmas." "Christmas Evil" is probably crappier than this film is, but it's also a lot more fun, so you might want to check that one out, too, if this is the type of thing you're into.
