Review of Silent Night, Deadly Night (1984) by Richard C — 15 Jan 2010
This a classic 80's slasher fest with campiness galore. It's amazing how I've managed to steer clear of this forgotten gem for years. The story is actually quite solid and deep surprisngly.
A young boy watches his parents brutally slaughtered by a man wearing a santa clause suit on xmas eve. So he is tormented through his life by a sadistic nun at his orphanage and eventually ends up going on a killing spree as santa clause punishing naughty people.
it all sounds fairly simple and cheesy and it is but it has a bit more girth to it. Also it's executed with some truly showstopping death setpieces and some truly unintentionally hilarious dialogue and performances.
If you haven't yet and you are a fan of classic slasher fests like me. Rush out and see this flick you won't be dissapointed.
