Review of Silent Movie (1976) by Tyler R — 10 Nov 2008
Admittedly, I was a little skeptical (and curious) what Mel Brooks would do with the silent movie genre. But with Marty Feldman in it, and knowing what kind of work he had done as Igor in "Young Frankenstein," I was anxious.
This film is comedic gold. The film utters one single spoken word (which almost made me fall off the couch laughing) and utilizes musical literalism in the film's score to create laughs. Bonus: it's pretty clean.
"Silent Movie" and "Young Frankenstein" prove that Mel Brooks was at the top of his game back in the 1970s and that Marty Feldman was one of his greatest cast members. Easily recommended.
