Review of Silence (2017) by Blake G — 25 Jan 2017
One of the most moving and ingenius films ever made. A masterpiece with a profound and unprecedented message. See it for yourself. Do not assume it is mediocre just because awards organizations inexplicably ignored it. You will be gripped from beginning to end. The last 30 minutes are mind blowing. At once terrifying and gloriously entertaining, it would easily have been consistently been nominated for many awards if the hype machines were in place in a timely fashion. This will go down in history of the most astounding Oscar diss of all time. Most of the cast could understandably have been nominated. Garfield gives one of the greatest performances on screen in decades. Issey Ogata should have been nominated for all supporting actor awards, yet was not, in an unusually barron category this year. It is beyond shocking that Martin Scorsese was not nominated, over far lesser achievements. Garfield should have been an almost Oscar lock for this, but it didn't happen. And for the film to not be nominated over several mediocre films is shameful. This film proves that awards events are simply not valid in the slightest. The trend seems to be to award mediocrity and ignore greatness. The film has one of the deepest and thought provoking messages I've ever witnessed.
Do not believe the ignorant audience that are falsely stating negative reviews. I've read them and they are not true. In fact, it's the opposite. See for yourself.
