Review of Silence (2017) by Alacrity S — 12 Jan 2017
I don't disagree that it's a thought provoking story. Though not the best Scorsese piece IMHO, still a pretty good one. But a story of a religion, especially of Christianity in Japan, deserves a deeper dive on the full story than individual faith.
After all, an entire religion wouldn't have been persecuted if it weren't exploited for money or power in the first place. So, the angle this movie takes on this serious issue, is neither insightful nor informing for the best interest of the audience.
