This film about alien invasion is a chilling and suspenseful family drama that follows the science fiction side of the story from a darker and at the same time more intimate perspective of a father who has lost his faith since the death of his wife.
M. Night Shyamalan at some stage was called the new Hitchcock. Whether that was ever fully proven or not, even when he took on the science fiction genre he made it interesting and full of tension as well as some level of creativity.
Apart from a bunch of twists that were synonymous with his own characteristic style, what truly makes this a rewarding watch is the way in which it infuses credibly and sensibly very true levels of humanity that heighten the drama in a compelling way.
