Signs is a masterpiece. From the time I saw this as a kid to now, it still remains my all time favorite. Unlike many home invasion films, this one actually made me care about the characters. They are well developed throughout the film and it is expertly paced. The acting is also top notch. Mel Gibson and Joaquin Phoenix do a great job and really make you connect with them. Shyamalan also does very well with characterization. Throughout the film we get to learn about each one of them. All of them have flaws, but also strengths, which proves very important later on. Pretty much the whole movie is building up to the superb climax of the film, which isn't a bad thing. There is a great eeriness and suspenseful mood that really keeps you immersed. Oh and I absolutely cannot forget the soundtrack. JNH is truly an excellent composer and the OST for this film is perfect. Literally I get goosebumps every time. But what this story boils down to is our main character, Graham, dealing with his faith. He is tested many times and it is interesting to see his journey. There are so many things Signs does right that the flaws in it are very weak in comparison. I recommend this movie to everyone, this is when M. Night was truly on point. 5/5.
