Review of Signs (2002) by Katharine B — 11 Jan 2014
There is something more to this than your average alien invasion movie. Whereas War of the Worlds and Independence day focus solely on the fight for survival, this has the addition of God vs Science debate.
It is gently paced, calm and at times comforting, revolving around a slightly unorthodox family unit. The casting is superb. Gibson and Phoenix are beleivable as brothers, not to mention the great child performances.
It is heartwarming and almost tearjerking. The TV reflection moment is probably one of the creepiest scenes in the history of film and never fails to raise my heckles.
