Review of Sideways (2004) by Archibald T — 22 Mar 2011
Miles takes his buddy Jack out on a road trip to wine country. They taste some great wine, eat some great food. Jack is about to get married after this trip, but wants to get laid. The two boys meet two very lovely girls: Maya and Stephanie. Jack convinces the two girls that they're celebrating Miles book deal which really isn't true since his novel hasn't even been published yet.
Miles has been depressed for 2 years now. He's been this way since Victoria left him. He can't get over her. Jack gets pissed off at Miles for all his negative bullshit and wants to see Miles get his joint worked on. Maya may be able to help Miles. She likes wine as well. They both share the same passion, but when the moment of realizing this comes clear after Maya touches Miles hand after opening up about her own passion for wine he retreats only to kiss her later on in an awkward moment instead.
You feel bad for Miles and want him to be happy. In the end we're never sure if Maya opened the door or not, but I'd like to think she did.
